Welcome!!... and thank you for accessing the web home of the Jim Norton for Supervisor, District 1 campaign. I’m Jim Norton, your candidate. A brief introduction is in order…
I’m a happily married man with 3 children, 2 are grown and on their own. Our youngest is a member of the Del Norte High School Choir which means that she and I will be gone March 13 to 21 on the Spring Tour to Germany, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Kudos to Lindy Rust, Del Norte High School and the School District, the Music Boosters Club, and all who helped by participating in the various fundraisers throughout the year. This promises to be a truly epic experience for all of us.
One of the better decisions in my life was to marry my wonderful wife, Christa. This is one woman who truly understands “for better or for worse”. In 2001, I accepted an offer of employment here that allowed us to move from a hot and dusty/cold and foggy climate to the beautiful north coast we now call home. One of the great adjustments was actually having to wear warm clothing to watch the 4th of July fireworks… I had never experienced a celebration on that day where we were not sweltering in the heat, even after sundown. Wonderful!!
Professionally, I’m a blend of TeleCommunications and Computer technician. With 27+ years concurrently in each field, I’ve witnessed the blending of the two, so much so that to do one well virtually requires a solid working knowledge of the other.
In our community, I help hang the Christmas lights on the Battery Point Lighthouse (3 of the last 5 years) and have been Santa Claus for the Downtown Christmas Parade each of the last 5 years. I’ve helped with fund raising for a local cancer victim, the Music Boosters Club, and the last two tours by the Del Norte High Music Department. I helped for 3 years with the sound presentation for our fireworks display.
I truly love our community and our life here. The decision to run for Supervisor is born of that love and a strong sense of duty to our country. I’m proud of who we are and truly humbled by the opportunity to contribute to a brighter future for us all.
Thank you,
Jim Norton
